Overtime-pay estimate
Quick answer
How are the 1.5×, 2×, and 3× overtime rates calculated in Thailand?
Multiply the workday hourly wage by eligible hours and the applicable category: at least 1.5× for workday overtime, an additional 1× or at least 2× for ordinary holiday work depending on holiday-pay entitlement, and at least 3× for holiday overtime.
How to use this tool
- Choose monthly, daily, or hourly pay and enter the wage for that basis.
- Enter normal daily hours, select the overtime or holiday-work category, and enter eligible hours and minutes.
- Check the hourly rate, multiplier, substituted method, and additional-pay estimate, then export a local report if useful.
How the calculation works
For monthly wages, section 68 defines the hourly rate as monthly wage ÷ (30 × average normal hours per workday). Daily wage is divided by normal daily hours, while hourly wage is used directly. The tool then multiplies by entered minutes ÷ 60 and the section 61–63 multiplier. Integer satang arithmetic is used and only the final money result is rounded half up to two decimals.
Examples
| Example | Input | Expected result |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly employee, workday overtime | |
THB 125.00 hourly rate × 2 × 1.5 = THB 375.00 |
| Daily worker without weekly-holiday pay entitlement | |
THB 75.00 hourly rate × 8 × 2 = THB 1,200.00 |
| Holiday overtime | |
100.00 × 1.5 × 3 = THB 450.00 |
Limitations
- This is a preliminary estimate, not a payslip, labour-inspector decision, or legal advice.
- The tool does not decide overtime or holiday-pay eligibility; exclusions can apply to certain roles and work categories.
- Shift premiums, bonuses, allowances, piecework, tax, social security, workplace time-rounding, and contract rates above the legal minimum are omitted.
- Enter only eligible working time, excluding breaks, and verify workplace rules and attendance evidence.
Frequently asked questions
Should monthly wage be divided by 30 or by actual workdays?
For the statutory hourly rate used for overtime and holiday pay, section 68 states monthly wage divided by 30 times average normal daily hours. This tool therefore uses 30.
Is ordinary holiday work paid at 1× or 2×?
An employee already entitled to holiday pay receives at least one additional times the hourly wage. An employee without that entitlement receives at least two times. Select the status that matches the actual employment arrangement.
Are the multipliers minimums or fixed rates?
They are statutory minimums. A contract or workplace rule may provide more, while some roles or work categories can be excluded or compensated differently.
Does THcount save my wage or overtime hours?
No. Calculation and file generation happen in the browser, and the entered wage and time are not sent to the server.
