How the calculation works

The tool creates QR Code Model 2 with automatic versions 1–40 in UTF-8 Byte mode and adds the DENSO WAVE-recommended four-module white quiet zone. Error correction can be L, M, Q, or H; the default M can restore approximately 15% of codewords. Higher levels improve damage tolerance but reduce capacity and make the symbol denser.

Limitations

  • The tool uses QR Code Model 2 UTF-8 Byte mode and limits payloads to 1,200 bytes so all L/M/Q/H levels remain available; it does not optimize Numeric or Kanji modes.
  • The QR is static: it does not track scans, edit destinations, shorten links, or verify that a URL is safe, live, or owned by the user.
  • Black on white with a four-module quiet zone is fixed for interoperability; colors, logos, frames, and styling are excluded despite customization claims in the legacy editorial copy.
  • Real scanning depends on resolution, printed size, distance, camera, lighting, material, damage, and scanner app. Test the final artifact in its actual context.
  • A pattern hides its payload from human view and can carry phishing or unsafe data. Show a readable URL/description nearby and never scan an untrusted code.

Frequently asked questions

Can the website see the text or link inside my QR Code?

No. Matrix generation, copying, and downloads happen in your browser without a third-party QR service, payload submission, or localStorage.

What is the difference between L, M, Q, and H?

They provide roughly 7%, 15%, 25%, and 30% codeword restoration. Higher correction helps with damage but reduces capacity and increases density. M is the general default.

Why does the QR Code need a white border?

The quiet zone separates the symbol from its surroundings. DENSO WAVE specifies four blank modules on all sides; both PNG and SVG outputs include it.

Can this QR track scans or change its destination later?

No. It is a static QR containing the exact payload, with no analytics account, redirect, or dynamic link. URL safety and availability still depend on the destination.
