How the calculation works
Integer micrometres are the common base: 1 mm = 1,000 µm, 1 cm = 10,000 µm, 1 m = 1,000,000 µm, 1 km = 1,000,000,000 µm, 1 inch = 25,400 µm, 1 international foot = 304,800 µm, 1 yard = 914,400 µm, and 1 international mile = 1,609,344,000 µm. Input is scaled by 1,000,000 and calculated with BigInt before half-up rounding to at most 9 decimals.

- Inputs must be non-negative, no greater than 999,999,999,999, and have at most 6 decimals. Area, volume, and signed elevations relative to a datum are outside scope.

Frequently asked questions
Which definition of a foot does this tool use?
It uses the international foot, exactly 0.3048 metre, not the older U.S. survey foot, whose value differs slightly.
Why is 170 cm not exactly 5 feet 7 inches?
170 cm is about 5 feet 6.93 inches. Saying 5 feet 7 inches rounds the remainder to a whole inch and is not the exact converted value.
Do many decimal places mean the measurement is that accurate?
No. A conversion factor may be exact, while real accuracy is limited by the measuring instrument and significant figures of the source value. Round to a suitable precision.
Does the website store converted values?
